Shaw Community Update

December 2025

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, and Community Members,

Warm greetings to you and your loved ones as we welcome the festive spirit of December and look ahead to a well-deserved winter break!

This year at Shaw, our hearts are truly brimming with gratitude. We are incredibly thankful for our exceptional, compassionate educators and staff who, together with your wonderful children, form the core of our Shaw family. Their commitment creates an environment where learning thrives each day, and we feel deeply privileged to work with every member of this community.

As we move fully into December, we want to remind families about our upcoming Student-Led Conferences. These conferences offer students a unique opportunity to take ownership of their learning—reflecting on their progress, setting goals, and sharing their accomplishments directly with you. It is always a proud moment to see students articulate their growth, and we strongly encourage all families to take part in this meaningful experience.
Please also note that report cards will be issued digitally this year. More information on how to access them will be shared soon.

As always, your input and support is very important to us. Please know our doors are always open to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.

Regards,
Andrew Tuccio & Erin Rosenkranz

3rd Grade

We ALL belong!
At this month’s community meeting, Third Grade focused on the E in DREAM, Embracing Differences. Then, classes read “A Little Spot of Belonging” and students created a hand listing 5 examples of what makes them unique.  Finally, we used all of the hands to create a rainbow that represents how each and every third-grade student belongs here at Shaw.  Check out the display when you come to your Student-Led conference!

4th Grade

November flew by in fourth grade! We had a great time at the author's visit with Raul the Third. He was fantastic and brought his books to life! This month our fourth grade was filled with gratitude when we made our poster for the hallway for all to see. It included what students were grateful for and was created into a piece of art. December will bring some more joy as our students look forward to student - led conferences.

5th Grade

5th grade students have had a fabulous month! We have been working hard on preparing for our student led conferences and are looking forward to presenting their slideshows. Thank you to Millbury Parents Club for sponsoring such an amazing author visit! Students were captivated by Raul the Third’s story telling and information about his writing process. We look forward to a fun filled holiday season!

6th Grade

We had an absolutely awesome time when the incredibly talented author and illustrator, Raúl the Third, stopped by Shaw! If you don't know him, he's the guy behind the ¡Vamos! and Lowriders books, and he's won the prestigious Pura Belpré Award three times.

Raúl shared his cool journey of growing up near the U.S.-Mexico border and how that vibe became the inspiration for his art. He proved that you don't need fancy tools, he mostly uses simple ballpoint pens to create stunning, detailed illustrations. The kids were totally engaged during his live drawing demo, where he walked them through how he draws his characters. It was seriously inspiring, encouraging our students to be proud of their heritage and realize that their own stories are the best ones to tell. Huge thanks to Raúl for sharing his passion with us!

Shaw School Store

Thank you to those of you who have donated to our Shaw School Store! We rolled out the store for the first time this year, and the students were thrilled to spend their Woolie Bucks, which they had worked so hard for. Some of the most popular raffle items this month were the burrito blanket, Stanley water bottle, and the chance to have a pizza party with Mr. Tuccio, Mrs. Rosenkranz, and four friends. If you are interested in donating to our school store, check out our AMAZON WISHLIST! Your donations are greatly appreciated!
