Fall i-Ready & MCAS Results

Posted Date: 10/15/25 (9:37 AM)

Good Morning, Shaw Families,

Your child’s Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) scores and Fall i-Ready Diagnostic have been mailed home. Please see below for more information.

MCAS Scores

MCAS reports are mailed directly to your home. Each report provides your child’s Achievement Level for the Spring 2025 assessments on a scale of: Exceeding Expectations, Meeting Expectations, Partially Meeting Expectations, or Not Meeting Expectations. In addition, students who participated in the 2025 English Language Arts (ELA) or Mathematics assessments—and who had also taken prior MCAS tests in those subjects—received a Student Growth Percentile (SGP). This measure shows how your child’s progress compares to that of other students across the state with similar prior scores.

i-Ready Fall Diagnostic - What is i-Ready?

i-Ready is an online program that will help us determine your child’s strengths and areas for growth, personalize their learning, and monitor their progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows us to meet your child where they are and provides us with data to inform instruction.

The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions based on student responses. Each item a student receives is based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier ones. The purpose of this is not to give your child a score or grade but to determine how to best support their learning. For additional information and family resources about i-Ready, please visit the i-Ready Family Center.

What happens next? The i-Ready Diagnostic will provide results that help teachers identify what your child already knows and determine next steps for instruction. After reviewing diagnostic results, teachers use i-Ready data to inform their daily classroom instruction and identify specific skills that require further development. The results also help us create WIN (What I Need) intervention groups during our daily WIN intervention block. These small, flexible groups allow teachers to target instruction based on each student’s needs—whether that means providing additional support, reteaching key concepts, or extending learning for enrichment.

The i-Ready Diagnostic is administered three times per year—in the fall, winter, and spring—to monitor student growth over time. Diagnostic results will be sent home after each assessment window is completed, allowing families to see their child’s progress throughout the year.

As always, thank you for your continued support and for being a partner in your child’s learning! It is much appreciated. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact either of us or your child’s teacher at any time.

Sincerely,

Andrew Tuccio & Erin Rosenkranz
